Short Course in Data Mining with Applications to Healthcare
15th – 17th April 2015
School of Mathematics, Cardiff University
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Kemal Kilic, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Sabanci University (Istanbul, Turkey), will be visiting Cardiff School of Mathematics to run this 3-day introductory short course in Data Mining. The course is primarily designed for researchers (academic staff, PhD students, those practising in the field, etc.) working in healthcare modelling and management, although would be of interest to those working in other fields where data mining techniques would also be useful.
It will briefly introduce the theoretical background of various techniques developed in the context of data mining, such as clustering, classification, regression and association mining. The course will focus mostly on the algorithms and their strengths and weaknesses. The participants will have the opportunity for hands-on applications of the techniques including the use of the software WEKA.
Cost: £50 to cover the cost of lunches and refreshments over the 3 days. If accommodation is required, a wide range of hotels are located in Cardiff city centre within walking distance to the School of Mathematics.
Registration: Places are limited. To reserve your place please email Dr. Soheil Davari: [log in to unmask]
