Age Assessment Awareness and working with age disputed young people – 10th March 2015 
    
Ensuring the well-being of unaccompanied refugee children and young people is at the heart of this course, which aims to give delegates the confidence and information they need to challenge assessments, and the tools to ensure that the correct processes are in place in your organisation.

Key Issues in Asylum & Asylum Support – 11th March 2015

On 1 April 2013 the UK Border Agency was transferred back to the Home Office, the Asylum Operating Model was introduced and the legal aid changes commenced. Further changes will continue to take place throughout 2013 and 2014.  
  
This course will provide an overview of some key structures in the asylum system (including determination and support) in order to support delegates' understanding of asylum issues. By completing this one-day course, delegates will have a basic understanding of: 

. The distinction between refugees, asylum seekers and other migrant groups 
. The current international context of asylum and the causes of flight  
. The current legislative structure including the Asylum Operating Model 
. The asylum determination process including the appeal process
. Support provision under current legislation
. Possible implications of future legislative changes
