If you google "sub slab pressurisation" or SSP you will find a lot of USA references. The effectiveness of the system in deflecting gas ingress is highly dependent on the soil type below the building. Finite element modelling we have done and experience monitoring a system shows that the floor slab must alsobe sealed to prevent short circuits (ie it needs a membrane).

Subject: Clean Air Blankets
I am currently dealing with a developer of an industrial site where gas ingress protection measures need to be included. In lieu of a membrane they are proposing a Clean Air Blanket system beneath the slab of the proposed factory. Has anyone had any experience of these in the past and how effective they are?
