I have a question on the hierarchy of guidance documents, more specifically do British Standards trump CIRIA guidance?
The question has arisen because of a site that we have been dragged into looking at;
The site had around 1m of Made Ground on it and was monitored for gas on three occasions (investigation by others). GS-1 was determined. The Council are not happy with the amount of gas monitoring and are citing CIRIA 665. The problem is that construction has started. We reassessed the gas assessment based on BS8576 which suggests actually monitoring was probably not required. We then assessed the results from the monitoring and determined that no further monitoring was required as the risk of moving to GS-2 was highly unlikely. The Council have come back referencing various bits of CIRIA 665.
Any help would be appreciated?
