This is an opportunity for those based in the UK (see below) who received their PhD within the last 5 years.
The Department of History at the University of Liverpool will support ONE application for a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship in the next cycle (i.e. from 2015/16). The post is open to and would welcome applicants from the field of archives/records management (as well as history).
This could be a very rewarding opportunity to pursue research with a good possibility of future employment thereafter.
The Leverhulme Trust’s deadline is Thursday 5 March, so in order to allow time to finalize the text of the application, the department’s selection panel will meet on Monday 23rd February; this in turn means that candidates must contact us with their proposals (at least in draft) by Friday 20th February (by email to [log in to unmask]).
Full details of the Fellowship, including eligibility criteria, are here: http://leverhulme.ac.uk/funding/ECF/ECF.cfm . But the highlights are:-
• The candidate must be within 5 years of her/his PhD viva.
• S/he must have submitted her/his thesis by 5 March 2015.
• S/he must have a UK degree or a current academic contract in the UK.
• S/he will usually have held her/his previous position at an institution different from the prospective host.
• Fellows are allowed to do up to 3 hours teaching per week.
• The expectation is that the Fellowship should lead to a more permanent academic position.
