Hello all,
I'm interested in hearing how your institutions deal with non-digital data when a researcher retires or moves to another HEI? University of Glasgow policy states that 'the University of Glasgow will retain the original data when a member of staff or student leaves the University of Glasgow'.
The policy is clear, but in practice (and from my own experience), PIs tend to take lab-books with them when they move on, so they can continue to use the metadata and data recorded there. Is there a school of thought out there regarding this situation? And if your institution does retain the hard copies, how do you organise storage etc?
Thanks,
Mary
