CfP Interdisciplinary Symposion ‚Goldberg-Condition’

Emanuel Goldberg (Hebrew: עמנואל גולדברג; Yiddish: עמנואל גאָלדבערג; Russian: Эммануил Голдберг; 19./ 31. August 1881 in Moscow; † 13. September 1970 in Tel Aviv) is an important and influential scientist, researcher, developer and manager of his time, influential till today. His work and life should be explored in its entirety.
Emanuel Goldberg, a leading figure in early decades of the 20. century, is known for his wide range of theoretical and practical advances and inventions relating to light and media; and for the development of visual techniques in Film and early TV, photochemistry and photophysics; as well as knowledge technologies, like his „Statistic Machine“. Following the tradition of modern sciences Goldberg experimented with and for ‘instruments enabling to see and register’.
The symposium is an initiative for an interdisciplinary research project about Emanuel Goldberg’s work and life. It will cover is his work as scientist, developer, inventor, manager in its entirety; as well as the relationships between historical events, biography and ‘culturally memory’ (Assmann) within his life.
We look forward to meeting scientists of all disciplines interested in that project.
Proposal Submissions
Please submit a title and abstract of between 200 - 300 words for your presentation, as well as a biography of c. 150 words in German or English to Prof. Dr. Kerstin Stutterheim: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
The submission deadline is 15.3.2015
