I hope someone with a GE scanner sees that and will be able to reply. I did some work with GE scanners many years ago, and I seem to remember that it was a little trickier than on a Siemens.
If I remember correctly it was easier to rotate the PE direction by 90 degrees, resulting in a A->P and L->R pair. Such a pair can also be used by topup, though the results are likely to be better if you can manage to get a pair with opposing PEs.
