Dear Gwen,

thanks for your interest and for your suggestions. I've read Cloud Road & will look at the donkey again more closely. It did seem to symbolise something about the author's relationship with his journey and with his (then) partner if I remember correctly. Thanks also for offering me a slot in NWR. I'm right at the beginning of looking at this topic. Meaning, I haven't even started reading properly. So, if you'll allow me some research time, can I get back to you about the article? I personally am interested in issues of animal rights, ethics, and the relationship between humans and other animals, but I'm sure I'll find something around your idea of comedy & humour, too.

Kind regards,
Alyce

Dear Alyce
I too am interested in this subject (especially in relation to comedy and
humour). Two that come to mind are Cloud Road, John Harrison (the donkey)
& also with a donkey, Hannah Engelkamp's nonfiction title (with film
attached), to be published at the end of February (via crowd-sourcing).

In the meantime, might you be interested in writing a piece for us on this
(comedy & humour in relation to animals in Welsh literature in English)?
If you could suggest a deadline for 2500 appropriate to how far your
studies have reached that would be wonderful. Thanks and all best wishes
for now
Gwen
