Job: Associate Professorship in Transport Studies and Director of the Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford, in association with St Anne's College

The School of Geography and the Environment, in association with St Anne's College, seeks applications for a full-time Associate Professorship in Transport Studies. The person appointed will also become the Director of the Transport Studies Unit.
The Associate Professorship is tenable from 1st September 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter, and will be held in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at St Anne's College under arrangements described in the further particulars. The post-holder will be based at the School of Geography and the Environment, and St Anne's College, Oxford. The appointment will be for five years in the first instance, and upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.
Applications are welcome from individuals with a proven track record of high-quality research and publications in fields relevant to the inter-disciplinary area of transport studies, evidence of imaginative research plans, and the potential to lead and manage new research initiatives. Applicants should also hold a doctorate in human geography, transport studies, or a closely related field and have the ability and willingness to become a fully participating member of the School.
The main duties of the post-holder will be to engage in research and produce high-quality publications of an international standard. As Transport Studies Unit (TSU) Director, the post-holder will be expected to take a leadership role in running the TSU, and to represent the interests of the TSU within the School of Geography and the Environment. The post-holder will teach, supervise and examine undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Geography, and will be responsible for the organisation and teaching of the undergraduate degree at St. Anne's College. The post-holder will also be expected to co-operate in the administrative work of the School and the College.
