DON'T RISK IT! KNOW YOUR RECORDS - event 18 February
Last year we wrote to you highlighting a high profile Don’t Risk It! Know Your Records event on 18 February 2015 for senior decision makers identifying the benefits of records management. As the date approaches we’d like to give you the opportunity again to discuss this event with your key decision makers and invite them to the event.
The Don’t Risk It! Know Your Records event is a unique day at the London offices of KPMG to which we wish to invite YOUR key organisational decision maker and YOU. It will begin at 10am and end by 1pm. We can now confirm that the speakers are Graham Smith (Deputy Information Commissioner and Director of Freedom of Information), Stephen Bonner (Partner, KPMG), Deirdre Allison and Gillian Acheson (Belfast Health and Social Care Trust).
We wish to gather an audience of those who are responsible at a high level for how records management is organised, structured and funded in their organisation. It may be the Chief Executive, or the Chief Operating Officer or the Head of IT or Governance. This will be someone who may not fully understand the crucial role of records management. They may employ a records manager but are not aware of the skills and potential that individual can bring to the organisation. They may not employ a professional records manager. They may, therefore, be running risks.
On the day, there will be presentations from high-profile experts – targeted at decision makers. These presentations will emphasise both the risks of ignoring good records management and the benefits to the organisation of getting it right.
Do please directly invite your decision maker to the event - and we would like you to attend with them. If you do invite your decision maker please email us with their name and yours so we can add them to our list - [log in to unmask]
Would you like US to invite YOUR decision maker? Let us know his or her name, contact details and position, with a note of your role and how the organisation sees records management. You may be someone who is trying to persuade for more professionalism; you may be paid as a records manager but are struggling to get your skills and advice heard.
Contact [log in to unmask] to nominate your decision maker or find out more.
And please let us know your thoughts about the Don’t Risk It! Know Your Records campaign, how you’re finding the toolkit - find it at http://www.archives.org.uk/ara-in-action/campaigns/know-your-records.html - and what you’re doing in your own organisation to advocate for good records management.
