Subject: [PSCI-COM] Looking for good references showing the social class of most prominent scientists from the age of enlightenment
Hi there,
Can anyone point me to a couple of reliable sources which state in general terms the socioeconomic status of the sorts of men who established organisations such as the RS, RI and BSA? I know I can go on their individual history webpages but this isn’t really clear. I am trying to make the point that the most prominent scientists were on the whole men with their own means and often of aristocratic status. I feel like I should know where to look for this but perhaps the post-Christmas break blight has affected my brain…
Any History of science buffs out there?
Ta,
Lucy
