Dear all,
Please find attached the Call for Papers for the Irish Screen Studies Seminar.
The seminar is aimed at postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in film
and screen cultures in the broadest sense touching on film, television,
digital media, transmedia, gaming and interdisciplinary research. It is
designed to provide a platform for the presentation of new research by
scholars in Irish third-level institutions and for those working on Irish
topics in non-Irish universities and colleges.
The keynote speaker is Sean Cubitt, Professor of Film and Television at
Goldsmiths, University of London; Professorial Fellow of the University
of Melbourne and Honorary Professor of the University of Dundee. His
publications include Timeshift: On Video Culture, Videography: Video
Media as Art and Culture, Digital Aesthetics, Simulation and Social
Theory, The Cinema Effect, EcoMedia and The Practice of Light: A
Genealogy of Visual Technologies from Prints to Pixels. He is the series
editor for Leonardo Books at MIT Press. Current research is on the
history and philosophy of visual technologies, on media art history and
on ecocriticism and mediation.
