Newton International Fellowships at the Institute for German Studies (Birmingham)
The Institute for German Studies (IGS) at the University of Birmingham (UK) would like to support at least one excellent candidate in an application to the Newton International Fellowship Scheme in 2015 (to start between October 2015 and March 2016).
The Newton International Fellowship Scheme is delivered by The British Academy and the Royal Society and aims to enable the very best post-doctoral researchers at an early career stage from all over the world to work at UK research institutions for a period of two years.

The proposed project can be in any field of humanities or social science research with a focus on Germany. The prospective Fellow should make a good case for the fit of their research with the core interests of the IGS and its members. Prospective candidates should send a 2-page CV and 1000-word summary of their proposed research to Dr Sara Jones ([log in to unmask]) by 4 February 2015.
• All applicants must be working and be based outside the UK for at least one year at the deadline of the application (25 February 2015).
• Applicants should have no more than 7 years active full time postdoctoral experience at the time of application, including teaching experience, time spent in industry, honorary positions and/or visiting researcher positions.
• Applicants in the final stages of their PhD will be considered provided that the PhD will be completed (including viva) before the start date of the Fellowship.
• Applicants should be working outside the UK and should not hold UK citizenship at the time of application.
