Dear colleagues,
Please consider submitting an abstract to IAGA Symposium A05 - "Paleomagnetic reference models, Apparent Polar Wander Paths, and their use in Global and Region Tectonics" of the IUGG meeting in Prague (22 June - 2 July 2015, www.iugg2015prague.com)
The deadline for abstract submission is 31 January 2015.
Paleomagnetic reference models, Apparent Polar Wander Paths, and their use in Global and Regional Tectonics (IAGA I-5)
Since the construction of the first apparent polar wander (APW) path more than 60 years ago, APW paths have become valuable tools in understanding geodynamics and tectonics on both global and more regional scales. Apparent polar wander paths have been used to construct the drift histories of individual continents and terranes; the comparison of APW paths from different continents had yielded insights into global palaeogeography, geodynamics, and rates of True Polar Wander (TPW); and they provide regional reference points for the analysis of regional tectonics.
This session solicits contributions on the general theme of Paleomagnetic reference models and their application to Global and Regional Tectonics. Such contributions might include new or updated APW paths, plate reconstructions and rates of plate motion, analyses of rates of APW or TPW through time, patterns of hotspot migration, to more regional aspects such as rotations in orogenic belts.
