Dear Colleagues:
Please consider participating in the I’m a Geoscientist public engagement event. I participated last summer and even though I did not win, it was a great teaching and communicating experience. Read below for more information.
----------------
*I’m a Geocientist* is an online public engagement event funded by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) <http://egu.eu/> that gets scientists talking to school students at imageo <http://imageoscientist.eu/>scientist.eu/ <http://imageoscientist.eu/>
For two weeks at a time, scientists answer students’ questions and engage directly with them in live text-based chats. Students vote for their favourite scientist to win €500 to spend on further public engagement.
Our next event will be *9^th to 20^th March* and we are looking for geoscientists like you to take part. If you are up for the challenge, read more info and *apply to take part before January 26^th *: imageoscientist.eu/geoscientists/ <http://imageoscientist.eu/geoscientists/>
Most scientists spend 2 hours a day on the event; half of which can be during the evening, outside of the work day. In return, they develop their communication skills, gain a fresh perspective on their work, and find out what young people think about science and the role of scientists. And all this, without leaving their desks!
