The Lissajous figure demonstration device above was made by the firm of Ferdinand Ernicke of Berlin. It uses two tuning forks vibrating at right angles to each other, with a beam of light being reflected from mirrors attached to the ends of the tuning forks. The device is in the collection of the University of Arkansas physics department, and probably dates from about 1900. It is of the order of 30 to 35 cm in height. See :
