I read it pretty quickly on Saturday and skimmed some. Crawford just seemed to want to tell us what a genius Eliot was and how important and influential he was on as many levels and in as many many places as he could think of.
I've always liked Eliot's poetry but, in definite contradiction of what Crawford says, I did argue once that the poetry, as opposed to the establishment figure, had little influence, in the long run, on Brit or American mainstream poetry. It might be more accurate to say that his influence in the short term was very strong but in the longer term that influence was largely swept away - something like that.
