Hello all,
A few items of interest:
1.
The AVA is thinking of putting a record of members' successful grant applications on the AVA website. The reasons for this are threefold: (i) the committee feels that we should be celebrating our members' successes; (ii) for those seeking funding, it might be useful to see where the money has been going, and for what; (iii) if grant holders are willing, they might have useful advice for those applying for money.
With this in mind, we could like to solicit details of current grants held by AVA members. If you are happy for this information to be on the AVA website, please send names, award date, duration, amount awarded, agency and title to the AVA secretary <[log in to unmask]>. If you are happy for other members to contact you, please also explicitly provide your email address.
2.
Aston University is hosting an Inaugural Lecture taking place on Wednesday 18th February at 6.30pm. The lecture, Seeing Sense, by Professor Ian Holliday, will look into the numerous theories on how light captured by our eyes is transformed by the brain to create the world we see around us.
