Hi,
That's helpful thanks. Will look into it a bit more. One problem I see is that you need 3G/4G or Wifi really to get this to work. Not necessarily ideal in all situations.

Hi Neil
If you have your device plugged in and set up for hands free you can initiate hey siri with speech ("hey siri") (set up by turning it on at Settings > General > Siri ) much the same way that android allows you to "Ok google".
You could also hook up a switch to initiate siri with Switch Access..
Siri has improved quite a bit in iOS 8. Its much better at cutting out background noise etc..
As for the others I've done a little testing and there is much of a muchness for the basic texting and calling features. Beware of googling this by the way - I've yet to find a review that is actually up-to-date.. these things are regularly being updated
- Cortana on windows is pretty good (natural language is neat) its lacking the third party integration if you need that..
- Google now is also pretty neat - particularly good at random searches and then interacting with your own personal information..
Happy Christmas!

I can't find a way for instance to use Siri without pressing the button first. Also when calling someone can't find out how to get the speaker phone to activate.
