Subject: Secure Exam Paper Production
Good Afternoon,
Here at Brunel University London, we have been asked to consider producing/ printing exam question papers as part of Registry’s service. This would be a move away from current practice where papers are produced locally within departments by admin staff and delivered to the exam venue by either the admin team or an academic.
We would be interested in knowing the following;
What is your current practice? - At Kingston University we receive electronic copies of exam papers from individual academics which we log and then send to our internal print room. The copies come back, we spot check them and sort them by date/time/venue
How secure do you feel your process is? Very
How many sittings (students x exams) do you have in a year? 29,754 - we don't run January exams anymore
How large is the team that delivers this service? Our exams team has 3 full time staff and 1 part time staff
Is the physical production carried out within a central team or by a professional print department/company? In house print dept for the main summer session but we print the retakes and all other sessions in our office
What have you found problematic? The late submission of exam papers from academics holds up our processes, printing retake papers ourselves can get confusing and is time consuming. It takes a lot longer to print papers than you think it does!
What have you found to be of benefit? We can control the submission of papers, we know we definitely have them ready for delivery on the day, we know they are correct copies and the correct number
If you have recently changed practice (in either direction) or considered it, What prompted this and how has the change worked?
Thank you
Regards
Ross
