Apologies for cross-postingSpanish version belowAna DEADLINE for abstracts submissions EXTENDED until 23/01/2015    X INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND GENDER: VISIONSAND VERSIONS OF BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGIESMadrid, 23-25th March, 2015 Science, Technology and Societystudies deal with different models of governance and public participation  in  the  health  sciences  and  technologies,  and  their  socio=medical  implications. 
These  studies  analyze  the  production,  circulation  and  exchange  of  “expert”  and  “lay” knowledges,  focusing  on  different  biomedical  fields  where  “biosocialities”  or  groups  of patients/affected  by  different  medical  categories  have  emerged.  This  workshop  will  pay attention  to  biomedical  fields  related  to  neurologic  diseases,  rare  diseases,  etc.  and  to  the socio-medical categories of intersexualityand transsexuality, in addition to those technologies used  to  improve  and  reinforce  bodies  (especially  women’s)  in  cosmetic  medicine,  bio=nutritional, pharmacological, sports-relatedtechnologies, etc.  
Contributions on following matters shall be accepted:  (1)  Actors  involved:  scientific  community  and  medical  professionals,  patient  and  patient’s families advocacy groups,, economicalactors  –companies, institutions, etc.  (2) Relationships among them:collaboration, oppositions, alliances, resistances or defiances to the scientificcommunity, the private sector or the pharmaceutical companies etc.)  (3)  The  different  spaces  of  communication  and  exchange  –with  special  emphasis  on  the Internet(4) The socio-ethical aspectsthat arise from the experts´ role in the scientific networks (5)  The  reconfiguration  of  knowledges,  practices,  positions  and  legitimacy  produced  by  the above mentioned  circulations  and  the creation  of  different  versions  of  the  biomedical phenomena. Los estudios de Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad abordandiferentes modelos de gobernanza y participación pública en las ciencias ytecnologías de la salud y sus implicaciones socio-médicas. En estos trabajos seanalizan la producción, circulación e intercambio de saberes “expertos” y“legos” en diferentes ámbitos tecno-biomédicos donde han surgido, en torno acategorías médicas, “biosocialidades” o colectivos de pacientes/afectados. Losámbitos biomédicos relacionados con distintas enfermedades (raras, de etiologíadesconocida, etc.) y las categorías socio-médicas de la intersexualidad y latransexualidad serán de especial atención en este workshop, a la vez que esas tecnologías que se aplican para mejorary reforzar los cuerpos (en especial los de las mujeres), como las utilizadas enmedicina estética, tecnologías bioalimentarias y farmacológicas, deportivas,etc. Esperamos contribuciones sobre: (1) los actores implicados (comunidad científica yprofesionales médicos, desarrollo de asociaciones de pacientes/afectados yfamiliares, colectivos políticos, agentes económicos –compañías- einstitucionales, etc.) (2) las relaciones entre ellos (de colaboración,contestación, alianzas o desafíos a los actores de la comunidad científica ydel sector privado, como las compañías farmacéuticas, etc.); (3) los diferentes espacios de comunicación ointercambio –con especial énfasis en Internet- ; (4) las cuestiones socio-éticas que plantea el papel delos expertos en las redes científicas; (5) la reconfiguración de los saberes, las prácticas,las posiciones y su legitimidad producto de dicha circulación, y la producciónde diferentes versiones de los fenómenos biomédicos analizado  (6) las innovaciones (ocultas o explícitas) si las hubiere.  ConferenciasPlenarias: Hida Viloria, Ana Toledo Presentación depropuestas antes del 23 de enero de 2015 a la dirección [log in to unmask]:  Se enviará unresumen con título, nombre e institución del/a autor/a que constará de 400-500palabras, con no más de 5 referencias bibliográficas.
