***Apologies for cross-posting***
We are pleased to invite you to Bio&Data, the first workshop of new established “Mountain Village
Science Series” (MOVISS). It will take place on August 26-28, 2015 in the small town of Branna
in the Czech Republic.
Bio&Data and should be not a sequence of contributions as at a usual conference, but rather
a smaller, problem-driven meeting, full of discussions and posing questions about how to deal
with chemometrical data reasonably, as we are convinced that this is exactly what was missing
at the meetings we have experience of. There will be four sessions (Data generation, Data curation,
Computation/analysis, and Interpretation) devoted to the whole process of the extraction and
processing of data in the biosciences. In this area we all (geneticists and people analysing
proteins and metabolites) share the same tools. Each of the four sections will consist of one
(or at most two) keynote contributions, followed by a coffee break to enhance discussion, brief
contributions from selected participants (preferably those posing relevant questions/problems),
and panel discussion.
Tentative list of keynote lecturers includes the following renown experts in the field:
David Broadhurst (University of Alberta, Department of Medicine, Canada)
Lennart Eriksson (Umetrics, Sweden)
Milos V. Novotny (Indiana University, Novotny Laboratory, USA)
Beata Walczak (University of Silesia, Chemometric Research Group, Poland)
Ron A. Wevers (Radboud University Medical Centre, Department Laboratory Medicine, Netherland)
Further details concerning the workshop (deadlines, registration, accommodation etc.) are now
available at http://www.moviss.org/. Please, forward this announcement also to your colleagues
and specially PhD Students that might be interested in the goals of the workshop.
