Dear Alice
How's things? I hope all's well
The title story in George Ewart Evans, Let Dogs Delight (London: Faber, 1975) is a good dog tale, and very evocative of the Valleys as well
If any others come to mind, I'll let you know
All best wishes
Jane

Subject: [WS] research on animals in WWE
Dear all,
I'm interested in exploring the representation of non-human animals, issues of animal rights and the relationship between humans and non-human animals in Welsh Writing in English. Animals don't (necessarily) need to be 'characters' in their own right or even occupy a main role in the narrative, but I'm interested in how the way humans treat animals in novels, short stories and poems is a reflection of themselves, for instance, or how humans think of animals (as 'masters', 'companions' or as 'other animals that occupy the same space'). And I'm sure other questions will emerge once I get going. I can think of a number of short stories and novels that deal with animals in some way, and a few poems, too. But I'm sure you've come across a lot more than I have. I'd be grateful if you were to mention any text that deals meaningfully with animals in some way. You can contact me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks for your help, I appreciate all pointers...
Kind regards,
Alyce
