Are you a statistician interested in joining a team which will ultimately impact the provision of future healthcare for critically ill children?
Established in 2001 and coordinated by the Universities of Leeds and Leicester, PICANet is an exciting project, collating details of the treatment of all critically ill children in NHS Paediatric Intensive Care Units in the UK. Utilising an expanding dataset (already in excess of 200,000 admissions) it is hoped the project will facilitate planning for future health service research and interventions.
We are seeking an Epidemiologist/Applied Health Research Statistician to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet). You should have a degree in a numerate discipline and practical experience of advanced statistical techniques. You will be responsible for analysing existing data, developing analytical methods and, together with clinical and academic colleagues, providing collaborative support for use of the data in audit, applied health research and clinical trials. You will also provide support to NHS Trust staff as well as contribute to the production of and presentation of progress reports to sponsors and national bodies. Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building rapport with NHS Trust staff, providing support and guidance to ensure accurate reporting into the database.
While the post is based on the University of Leeds campus visits to other organisations, in particular NHS Trusts, will be required.
You can find out more about PICANet at http://www.picanet.org.uk and the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at http://medhealth.leeds.ac.uk/info/522/division_of_epidemiology//.
