Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Sorry for cross-posting but I hope you find it interesting my new
research project. SPAT - space and time research - is a web based
network where you can find news, papers, literature reviews about
temporariness in contemporary city (www.spatresearch.com).
The research deals with the phenomenon of creative, informal and
temporary practices influencing the construction of new public space
through the reappropriation and animation of under managed spaces.
Both the widespread dissemination of these practices, the
ever-increasing studies about their effectiveness and the growing
attention by the public policies have contributed to improve the
interest about temporary uses. In this context, many european cities
have established temporary use agencies and many researches addressed
the issue of how temporary uses can be a new planning tool for
regeneration of contemporary city. From this point of view,
researchers are today led to wonder about how temporary uses impact
the evolution of under managed spaces, in order to create new public
space or social housing.
I hope you'll enjoy the network!
Please don't hesitate to share if you know people who could be interested.
Best wishes,
Flavia De Girolamo
