Hi all,
I thought I'd just share this with you all. We've just added a new film archive layer to Know Your Place. These are all black and white silent clips dating to either the 1930s or late 1950s. Each clip is taken from longer films held at Bristol Record Office.
The creation of these clips and their geo-location has been the result of a partnership between us, the Record Office and the University of Bristol.
You might ask how can this help the HER, but see if you can spot the archaeology in this clip that comes from a 50s film called the the "Changing Face of Bristol" http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/knowyourplace/?service=HER&maptype=js&layer=Community+layer;Film+archives&mapbase=1946&extent=475.4572009143885&x=359041.2703904822&y=173182.19862138375
And for a 30s view of archaeology http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/knowyourplace/?service=HER&maptype=js&layer=Community+layer;Film+archives&mapbase=1946&extent=475.4572009143885&x=356566.3529406473&y=173318.72389443428
Obviously watch in your own time.
Best wishes and Christmas cheer,
Pete
