Amec Foster Wheeler (www.amecfw.com) designs, delivers and maintains strategic and complex assets for its customers across the global energy and related sectors.
With pro-forma 2013 annualised scope revenues of £5.5 billion and over 40,000 employees in more than 50 countries, the company operates across the whole of the oil and gas industry – from production through to refining, processing and distribution of derivative products – and in the mining, clean energy, power generation, pharma, environment and infrastructure markets. 

Over the past two decades, Amec Foster Wheeler has specialised in building decision support and operational tools that integrate GIS, Environmental Information Systems and Asset Management Systems with traditional software applications.  Our Global Information Management team currently includes 170 GIS (Geographic Information System), remote sensing and database specialists operating worldwide. 

We are currently seeking a full time GIS/Information Management - Assistant Consultant who will contribute to the delivery of our GIS, database management and web mapping services.  The job role will be based in our Shrewsbury office and the successful candidate will contribute the delivery of consultancy work delivered by the Amec Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) UK group.  

Key Responsibilities
•	Delivery of GIS analysis and mapping for environmental and infrastructure projects. This will include the delivery of outputs for major airport operators; nuclear site operators; electricity/gas suppliers and government agencies (including the Environment Agency);
•	Development of GIS based scripts, models and tools;
•	Contribute to the development of web mapping applications using ESRI and Open Source software;
•	Co-ordinate the management of GIS data and databases for larger multi-disciplinary studies; 
•	Advise project managers on GIS methods and potential solutions; and
•	Provide input into the development of new GIS/Information management services across Amec Foster Wheeler.

Role Requirements  
•	Degree or further degree (MSc) in GIS/Geomatics or equivalent;
•	Experience of using ESRI ArcGIS and extensions;
•	Experience in working with databases such as MS Access and SQL server;
•	Experience of using ESRI ArcGIS Server, JavaScript API and/or ArcGIS online;
•	GIS coding skills – including Python and/or VB.NET coding; and   
•	Adaptable and flexible in order to work alone or as part of a team.

The nature of our business means that the successful candidate may be asked to undertake ad-hoc short term, secondment and/or longer term placements.
