The Germanic Society for Forensic Linguistics (GSFL) is pleased to announce the first call for papers for the Third Annual Roundtable in Forensic Linguistics/Phonetics. The pupose of the GSFL is to provide researchers, teachers, and practitioners (e.g. psychologists, sociologists, crimonologists, police officers, interpreters/translators, lawyers, etc.) working within forensic linguistics, the opportunity to present and discuss their work within a creative, supportive, interdisciplinary setting. Paper and poster abstracts are invited in any of the following areas:
FORENSIC LINGUISTICS
•Corpus analysis of forensic texts (e.g. confessions, courtroom transcripts, police protocols, suicide letters, threatening letters, blackmail, hatemail, etc.)
•Authorship identification, verification, and attribution
•Detecting plagiarism
•Computational methods of linguistic profiling
•The language of (violent) offenders, victims, and/or therapists
FORENSIC PHONETICS
•Speaker discrimination
•Perceptual speaker identification
•Foreign/second language speaker and identification
•Formant measurement, dynamics, and pattern identification
•Intra- and inter-speaker variation
•Automated speaker recognition
•Cross-linguistic voice recognition
FORENSIC LINGUISTICS/PHONETICS, THE LAW, AND THE LEGAL PROCESS
• Ear witnesses and lineup procedures
• Courtroom interpreting and translating
• Multilingualism and the legal system
• Language minorities and the law
• Legal discourse and legal texts
• Language testing, citizenship, and asylum
• Investigative interviewing and/or interrogative practices
• Legal policies on presenting expert witness testimony and evidence

All interested authors are requested to submit a 250-word abstract by June 15, 2015 using the following link: http://www.gsfl.info/abstract-submission.html. Submissions may be in either English or German but must conform with the LSA stylistic regulations. After the deadline, all abstracts will be submitted to blind review by a team of FL/FP experts.
