HUMAN GEOGRAPHY at the UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE welcomes applications for ESRC PhD studentships for 2015/16
As part of the Human Geography Pathway of the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS) we are able to invite applications for the following awards 1+3 and +3 studentship awards:
'Pathway' studentships - the Pathway has FIVE studentships to award. Deadline for applications to Dundee: 31st January; applicants to be registered by 6th February; application uploaded by 20th Feb; interviews on 13th March (all those shortlisted must attend the interview). Dundee secured a Pathway studentship in 2014/15.
'Open' studentships - up to TWENTY studentships available in SGSSS. Any applicant who is unsuccessful in the 'Pathway' studentships competition, but who passes a quality threshold, will be entered into the Open competition.
'Collaborative' studentships - up to NINE studentships available in SGSSS. Projects to be developed with an academic at Dundee, and a partner in the private, public or third sector (Deadline: 26th January). Dundee has a track record of success in securing collaborative studentships.
*We also encourage applications to interdisciplinary pathways in SGSSS: Families, Relationships and Demographic Change; Socio-Legal and Criminology; Environment, Climate Change and Energy; Health; and Advanced Quantitative Methods. If you feel as though your interests fall within one of these areas, please get in touch.

Dr. Alistair Geddes - forced labour; social impact of flooding; GIS; advanced quantitative methods
Dr. Ed Hall - disability, learning disability, social care; vulnerability and resilience
Dr. Susan Mains - mobility (including Caribbean mobilities), migration and representation; tourism, heritage; media methodologies
Dr. Jonathan Mendel - online networks; science; networked conflict and terrorism
Dr. Fiona Smith - community, resilience and inclusion; gender and youth geographies
Dr. Lorraine van Blerk - geographies of children and youth, 'street' children, participatory methodologies, HIV/AIDS
Dr. Megan O'Neill - policing, crime
Dr. Beverley Searle - housing, welfare
Prof. Ioan Fazey - vulnerability, resilience, adaptation and transformation
