Sorry it has taken me so long to put this together. I only work part time and haven't had time to post the responses.
I found that most organisations used a single collection management software for their museum/archive collections, though some also use a combination of different software.
Many organisations use Axiell products (CALM, Adlib, KE EMU etc). Many responses recommended waiting before making a decision on an Axiell products as their new software will be released in the near future.
Other options include:
1) Ehive (https://ehive.com/). Online collection management software. Cost dependent upon how much storage space needed. Not suitable for large collections.
2) The Museum System (TMS) (http://www.gallerysystems.com/tms) Suitable for catalogue data and images.
3) Modes – (http://www.modes.org.uk/) Recommended for museum and archive collections. Not free but much cheaper than similar software.
4) Omeka (http://omeka.org/) Open source web-publishing platform for the display of library, museum, archives, and scholarly collections and exhibitions. Needs configuration, but includes plug-ins which can add extra features. New plug-ins are created by the community of users.
5) Collective Access – (http://www.collectiveaccess.org/). Open-source software including Spectrum or ISAD(G) compliant versions. The user interface can be configured to cater for museum and archive collections but need some knowledge of basic coding to do this.
We’ve decided to go for Collective Access which we looked at previously and seemed the best option for us.
Thanks again for all the responses I recieved.

We are also interested to hear if any other organisations have an integrated collection management software which holds catalogue data for more than one heritage body within an organisation (eg. different department museums etc.)
