We have had some server issues but our glucose meters will work for about 5 days without interruption of service. Our blood gas analysers will maintain the operator database and run as standalone systems.

Subject: Connectivity Problems
Connectivity now plays a vital part in delivery of safe and effective POC services. The only obvious downside is cost. Has anyone had experience of problems with a connectivity system (software, network etc) defect resulting in loss of service or risk arising from a connected device. A possible example would be if database holding operator list, evaluated lots etc became corrupted and when transmitted to end device prevented use.
Is it safe to assume that connected devices will continue to work independently if connection fails - until it is later restored? Has anyone experience of such an event.
Obviously a considerable risk if this were to jeopardise a vital service such as glucose monitoring
