Hi Ross
Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
We are looking at this in the context of a wider systems review and are in a similar position with regard to timescales. Limitations on the use of source code are not helpful in light of how long a systems review can take.
I will be pushing for access to the code "in perpetuity" as was the position when we took the original product from Baum Hart.
Have a good Christmas and hope we can get this resolved quickly in the New Year.
Regards
Chris

Subject: pFACT source code and agreements
Dear pFACT userlist,
Thanks to those of you who responded to my email earlier in the month (1st December) concerning the EoLS and the Unit4 pFACT user group meeting held at Greenwich University (11th November).
From the feedback I've received, it seems that none of you have not since been contacted by Unit4 regarding the EoLS, or to follow-up on the source code option.
I have since discussed the situation internally with our IT Services (who manage our pFACT subscription and service levels).
They are clearly of the view that we have the right to our source code *in perpetuity* – this is based on the agreement we had with Allocate (which was never replaced by Unit4). Moreover, we are of the view that given the very poor customer service from Unit4 and the long lead time HEIs need to procure replacement systems, a September 2016 cut-off for utilising the source code is frankly insulting.
This is therefore the position we will be taking when we contact Unit4 - I am not sure what agreements each of you but even if not explicit on the issue of the source code, I would have thought there is a strong case to be made for a much longer period than up to September 2016.
Best wishes
Ross.
