Around a year ago you completed an application survey as part of the Diaspora ChangeMakers programme, which was delivered in partnership by the RSA as part of Comic Relief’s diaspora-focused Common Ground Initiative. Comic Relief has asked me to pass on the following message to you, inviting you to have your say on the development of the next phase of the Common Ground Initiative.
With thanks,
Matthew Parsfield, RSA
*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Comic Relief is carrying out a survey to inform the next phase of its Common Ground Initiative (CGI) - more details can be found below. The survey aims to understand how individuals, groups and organisations in the African diaspora in the UK are investing in Africa and/or helping to improve the lives of African women and girls. It seeks to discover who is working in these areas and what their needs are in doing this, and if they would be interested in getting involved with Comic Relief's Common Ground Initiative (CGI). Comic Relief want this survey to reach out to as many members of the UK based African diaspora as possible. Responses are needed by 23rd December 2014.

If you consider yourself to be part of the UK based African diaspora Comic Relief very much want to hear from you and would appreciate you filling in the survey which can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/s/KPR55TS. It should take about 15-20 minutes.

Please also send the  link to everyone you know within the UK based African diaspora and encourage them to fill the survey in.

If you receive information about this survey from a number of sources please only answer one time.

The information gathered from this survey will be used only by Comic Relief and the names and contact details of the people who have taken part in the survey will not be disclosed. The information will be used specifically to improve support to, and to strengthen collaboration with, individuals, groups and organisations interested in taking part in CGI, and to further refine the CGI strategy.

The CGI is a Comic Relief programme that is co-funded the UK Department for International Development (DFID), and has been supporting diaspora –led initiatives in UK that are working on social and economic change in Africa since 2009.  Following further funding from DFID, CGI will continue to support diaspora initiative  for a further 5 years, but with a stronger focus on improving the lives of women and girls in Africa, promoting socially responsible investments and diaspora businesses, and facilitating remittances. Alongside the CGI, the Small UK NGO Fund, which is also co-funded by DFID, will provide grants to small and diaspora organisations  across the 7 goals of Comic Relief’s international grants  strategy. Both programmes will be managed by Comic Relief’s CGI Team. If you would like more information on CGI please email Comic Relief at [log in to unmask] or visit the website www.comicrelief.com/our-grants/international.

With many thanks
