Totally mad here too, Pat. Jingle bloody bells assaults in supermarket aisles from mid-October and seems to be biting in even earlier elsewhere. We too have opted out of the present round. Last year, we escaped to the beach but this involves negotiations with other family members this year. Your point is well made in the poem. And to say you don't like Christmas, or at least don't embrace it, you risk the opprobrium of Scrooge shamers, almost like poor ol Roger Waters, who for his troubles on declaring open support for Palestine, is labelled anti-Semitic.
