Hi all,
Last week I have reinstalled both perfSONAR boxes at RAL PPD. In order to manage them with Puppet we install the perl-perfSONAR packages version 3.4, instead of using the full or the net install.
Everything appeared to be fine at first, but then no tests were available and the serviceTest/psGraph.cgi page was giving "Cannot retrieve data". After some digging into the logs, I managed to configure the new measurement archive by installing the SystemManagement package and running the configure_esmond script. The service test page correctly loaded, but it still remained empty - no tests. Logs were reporting error messages about denied access for the perfsonar user to the test mySQL database. I manually checked it and both the perfsonar user and the db were not existing, meaning that the installation did not take care of preparing the mySQL database. The only way I found to prepare the db was to install the 3.3 version of perfSONAR_PS-perfSONARBUOY package, which provides two scripts for that, owdb.pl and bwdb.pl. I ran those and now things appear to be OK and tests and graphs are appearing.
Since all of this sounds like a quick and dirty solution, I would like to know if someone else had the same issue and if there is a better solution. Thanks!
Regards
Federico
