I don't normally post petitions - particularly as they concern on the UK - but this is closely linked to this network's aims. Please take the time to sign.
For Syria’s 3.2 million refugees, winter is closing in.
The majority of people have taken refuge in one of Syria’s neighbouring countries, but have had to build their own makeshift shelters and are struggling to survive.
The UN’s Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimates that in 2015 and 2016, 100,000 people will need to be resettled to richer countries.
For these people, there could be the faintest glimmer of hope on the horizon. UNHCR is holding an urgent global resettlement pledging conference on 9 December where they will appeal to Governments around the world to offer more resettlement places to Syria’s refugees.
So far, our Government has only committed to helping ‘several hundred people’ over three years. In the face of a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions, we think that’s a pitiful response.
Please contact your MP today and ask them to call on the Government to attend this conference and offer safe haven to more refugees.
It will only take you two minutes, but it could make a lifetime of difference.
We find that MPs respond best to personalised letters from you, but if you’re in a hurry, feel free to use the template we’ve provided:
