Dear colleagues,
Erica Scourti will be giving a talk about her project “So Like You” at The Photographers’ Gallery this Thursday 21 November, which touches on (amongst other things) the politics and ethics of photo sharing, the cultural dynamics of image search algorithms and metadata.
In conversation with Helen Kaplinksy, she will expand on the questions addressed through developing the project, discussing her production process in which she used the photographs of others to create a mediated self portrait.
So Like You was commissioned by the Brighton Photo Biennial & The Photographers’ Gallery and developed during a residency at Islington Mill, Salford, as part of #temporarycustodians, a research project that asks how the shift towards the share economy and peer to peer might provide an alternative to historic modes of collecting.
Tickets are £4/£7 and can be purchased on the door at The Photographers’ Gallery or in advance at this link:

Best wishes
Katrina
