Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for your message about Lyme Regis FF 2015. We discussed at GCG committee in September about attending and have a couple of ideas that we'd like to take forward. There are a couple of funding opportunities that we are also looking into for support. Would we be able to have a table with some sort of activity relating to geological curation? Our AGM is next week in Birmingham so we'll discuss there and get back to you.
All the best,
Giles

Subject: Lyme Regis Fossil Festival 2015
Greetings all,
Plans are well under way for the 10th Annual Lyme Regis Fossil Festival, 1-3 May, 2015, and in a couple of days we’ll send out our first e-Update. This one will mainly confirm the date, but then after that each week will feature a new event, talk, or partner. If you’d like to keep up to date please sign up for the e-updates here: http://eepurl.com/9fEO9
Our theme this year is ‘Mapping the Earth’, to join in the William Smith celebrations, and we’ll have one of his originals in the Lyme Regis Museum (in atlas form) for visitors to see. (We’ll probably work out a system to turn a page under the glass every hour, so you might need repeat visits!)
If you haven’t been before have a look at the film link in my signature below. Mike Howe was with us two years ago with the 3D Fossils project, so he could also give you a flavour – though we have of course improved since then, especially with the talks venue and promotion. If anyone is coming down for the weekend and would like to volunteer for an hour or two we’d love to have you. There’s a volunteer sign-up page on the website at http://www.fossilfestival.com/about/volunteer or you can just email me direct.
The Festival would love to work with the GCG this year (or indeed any year!) if there is something that would be appropriate, and of course we are always looking for funding to keep the Grand Marquee free entry (or ‘entry by donation’ as we are going to start saying! At very least perhaps the GCG might like to have an ad in our programme highlighting the collections around the country? Or perhaps we could have a visiting museum each year – especially one that offers either something very connected to Lyme (like Miss Philpott’s fish) or something very different to what we can get in Lyme (trilobites).
We’d also appreciate any promotion that you can do on our behalf, so if you need some blurb or info for a newsletter or website please ask!
Do let me know if you have any suggestions!
Cheers,
Kimberly
