I read with sadness yet another incident of filicide this week in an ASAN (Autistic Self Advocacy Network) petition and started to look at exactly how common this kind of thing is. A brief search of research on filicide showed that in the USA about 500 children die every year at the hand of a parent. It was a 'relief' to read that here in Australia it is less than 30, every single year! These figures are appalling. However I did not find that the filicide research looked at disability as a point of interest. Is anyone aware of disability specific research in this field. Are stats kept on the incidence?
