EXPERIENCE DESIGN FOR BEHAVIOR CHANGE 2015

We invite you to share your research on how technology experiences can be designed to facilitate positive behavior change. This is the third year this popular parallel paper session will run as part of the Human-Computer Interaction International conference series, and this time we will be in Los Angeles, California, in August 2015.
Papers may be related (but not limited) to the domains of physical health, mental well-being, exercise, social activities, rehabilitation after illness or stress, ageing, energy saving, and generally living in an independent, sustainable way. We will review theoretical papers, case studies, and empirical user experience research under one or more of the following session themes:
- new theoretical approaches resulting from practice or research
- design and/or evaluation heuristics
- case studies or formative research
- qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods data
- novel applications of new technologies and techniques
We highly encourage research that covers one or more of the following:
1) Service design thinking approaches
(human-centered design, ethnographic studies, participatory design)
2) Networked health and sensing
(mHealth, telehealth, biofeedback, quantified and/or augmented self, prosthetics)
3) Interactive entertainment media and/or technologies
(storytelling, games, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, mobile media)
4) The next generation of designers
(how can we coach future designers to create experiences people will *want* to have/use)
Submissions with supplemental AV materials (e.g. images, video) are highly encouraged as they make richer presentations!
KEY DATES
Extended abstracts for blind peer review are due on 28 November 2014. Please ignore the 800-word limit in the submission system – we require extended abstracts of 2-4 pages. HOW TO SUBMIT
Please contact Marc Fabri ([log in to unmask]) to receive a personal submission invite through the conference CMS. Please DO NOT submit your paper through the general HCII paper submission route as it may then not be part of this session.
WHAT WE ACCEPT
All papers must report completed work with results available at the time of final submission. Proposals for new frameworks, protocols, etc. must emerge from research or practice and cannot be simply position papers. Data from studies that have not been approved by an institutional review board must meet criteria for being exempt from human participants research.
FORMATTING INSTRUCTIONS
Extended abstracts of up to 4 pages must be formatted using the Springer Paper Template available from http://designforbehaviorchange.wordpress.com/call-for-papers/. As mentioned above, we specifically encourage the inclusion of visually driven content. If you want to submit digital media as part of your paper please contact Marc Fabri ([log in to unmask]) AFTER you have submitted your extended abstract. Please include any references, tables and figures in the extended abstract.
PROCEEDINGS
HCI International 2015 Conference Proceedings will be published by Springer in a multi-volume set. Accepted papers will appear in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Delegates will have access to the full proceedings online for a limited period after the conference.
ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE
We are bound by the rules of the conference which state that for paper presentation and publication in the proceedings, at least one delegate registration per paper is required. However, individuals can appear as co-authors in several papers.
