Subject: The Representing Communities Project - new post!: http://representingcommunities.co.uk/butetown/
Dear Colleagues,
The Faculty of Life Science and Education is seeking a Research Fellow based at Glyntaff to lead on one of the five embedded case studies of the Representing communities: developing the creative power of people to improve health and well-being Project. The overarching aim of this AHRC/ESRC funded project is to establish how community representations produced through creative arts practices can be used as forms of evidence to inform health-related policy and service development. The focus of this case study is on Butetown (Tiger Bay and the Docks), and with people with emotional ties to places and spaces within Butetown. With this comes a particular (although not exclusive) focus on the lives and wellbeing of Caribbean elders.
This is a demanding and exciting role that requires a high degree of self-direction and an ability to progress work across a range of activities/work packages simultaneously. The post involves a high level of specialist expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative data including data drawn from life stories, narrative interviews and collective conversations. The post requires experience of delivering arts programmes that explore the links between place, migration, race/ethnicity, and notions of identity, belonging and social well being. The post-holder will have a background in creative/performing arts (or linked disciplines), experience in participatory arts research and practice-based arts interventions, and in the delivery of co-productive arts-based outputs. Local knowledge and embeddedness in the Cardiff area will be considered as an asset, as will an awareness of the wider creative arts policy context.
It is a stipulation of the funders that the post holder will have a background in the arts and humanities, preferably to a Doctoral level.
For further information or an informal discussion please contact Dr Roiyah Saltus on 01443 483194
