Salary (inclusive of London allowance): £33,353 - £39,228 per annum
Duration of post: 2 years in the first instance

Description
------
The Research Associate will work with Dr Ioannis Kosmidis in collaboration with the English Institute of Sports (EIS) as part of a UCL interdisciplinary effort (Sports and Health Analytics Research Partnership) to develop statistical, evidence-based approaches to improving human performance in sports.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of statistical methodology in functional data analysis and variable selection, with particular application to high-frequency dependent data from tracking and monitoring systems that are nowadays used in high-performance sports. The methods will be applied to rich data sets provided by EIS with the aim of characterizing and effectively summarizing the strong statistical and structural interdependencies between health, training, fatigue and performance.
The post comes with a generous travel and research expenses budget, is available immediately and is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
Key requirements
------
Candidates should hold or be close to submitting a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Statistics, or a closely related field. It is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience of the use and development of methodology in computational statistics, experience of analyising and visualising data and strong programming skills in R or Matlab.
If the successful candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, the appointment will initially be made as Research Assistant on Grade 6B of the UCL salary scale (£29,193 - £30,783 per annum inclusive of London Allowance), and the appointee will be regraded to Research Associate on completion of the PhD.
