Dear colleagues,
The Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the Genomics of Regulatory Variation research group led by Dr. Kerrin Small. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in genomics, statistical genetics or genetic epidemiology. The post holder will join a dynamic and collaborative team investigating the genetics of gene expression and its role in multiple clinically relevant traits.
This project will utilize a large next generation sequencing datasets to 1) identify and characterize regulatory variants in multiple disease-relevant tissues and 2) investigate how they contribute to the underlying genetic causes and mechanisms of common diseases and complex traits, with a particular focus on metabolic traits. The project will utilize a unique multi-dimensional dataset collected on 850 deeply phenotyped twins from the TwinsUK cohort including multi-tissue transcriptomic data (arrays and RNAseq), whole genome sequence, epigenetics (methylation, 450K and MeDIPseq) and clinical phenotypes. The breadth of the dataset will allow integration of multiple ‘omics, and in particular the concurrent analysis of both genetic and environmental factors to identify environment-specific eQTLs.
Applicants should have a strong computational background and expertise in dealing with large genomic data sets. Experience with RNAseq and DNA sequencing datasets is a major plus. A background and interest in eQTL studies, the genetics of complex traits and/or gene x environment interactions would be highly advantageous.
Depending on qualifications, the appointment will be made within the KCL grade 7 scale for Research Fellow level (£39,685- £47,328 per annum) or grade 6 scale for Research Associate level (£32,277-38,511 per annum) plus £2,323 London Weighting Allowance. The post is available for 3 years and is supported by an MRC Project Grant.
