Following from my previous mail , I thought I should add more detail......and my e-mail address!
We cover two hospitals 4 miles apart, with an expanding POCT service. Currently POCT across the two hospital sites and in the community includes 14 gas machines, 150 glucose meters, 20 urinalysis machines, ward bilirubinometers and subcutaneous bilirubinometers, pregnancy testing, HIV, RSV, HbA1c and INRs. We have one full time POCT Coordinator (band 8a) only dedicated to supporting the POCT service since 2010.
We are now at the stage where we are seriously in need of expansion of the POCT team. As such I be grateful to hear from you if you have recent or past experience of putting together a business case for expanding your POCT support (great if you are willing to share this?)
I'd also be interested to hear from you in terms of what you found to be an appropriate staffing structure that works for your POCT service?
Many thanks
Terry Stoppard
