The School of Art, Design and Media at the University of Brighton is seeking Hourly Paid Lecturers for semester 2 2014/2015 to teach on the BA(Hons) Multimedia Broadcast Journalism and the FdA programme in Broadcast Media, Television Production and Digital Post Production. The Teaching starts in the week commencing February 9th and will be based at the University’s Campus in Hastings. The total commitment required of these positions is 50 hours, on an hourly-paid lecturer basis.
We are seeking specialists in the following areas with the experience to lead the modules:
• Television Drama Production
• (Multi-camera) Television News Journalism
• Multimedia News Journalism (with a focus on web, stills and audio)
Television Drama is a practice based first year module on the FdA suite of courses. The module covers the basics of shooting single camera drama on DSLR cameras, basic lighting, audio recording and sound design, drama editing and post production, visual storytelling, production planning and story boarding.
Television News Journalism is a practice focused module on the 2nd year of the BJTC accredited BA(Hons) Multimedia Broadcast Journalism. The syllabus for this module covers journalistic skills in research, writing for broadcast, interviewing, creating news packages and presenting which are complimented by skills development in video and audio editing, camera work, sound recording, multi camera studio production and team working practices. This module cumulates in the BJTC news days with “as live” multi-camera news broadcasts and pre-recorded news packages. We would be interested in hearing from both Journalism specialists and multi-camera specialists.
Multimedia news journalism is a first year module on the BA(Hons) Multimedia Broadcast Journalism. The module provides a skill-based introduction to multimedia news writing. The syllabus covers news story writing , finding and researching news stories, writing styles, writing for broadcast, print and online, subediting, interviewing, recording audio, podcasting and audio editing. The module includes BJTC news days.
