Dear MeCCSA list subscribers,

The conference will begin at 12pm on Wednesday 7 January, and finish at approximately 1.30pm on Friday 9 January. A draft schedule will be published on the website before 1 December.
The conference theme this year is ‘Generations’, addressing generations of technology, media theory, practice and policy, but also professional generations; those about to leave the profession, who may have entered higher education in the 1970s and 80s, and those who are just beginning their careers across a range of disciplines. Colleagues working in higher education over the past few decades have seen the sector change utterly. This year’s conference will offer an opportunity for us to reflect upon the (ahem) ‘impact’ of such innovations as the RAE and REF processes, student fees and the politics of open access. The opening plenary will feature presentations from early, mid and late-career academics who have been asked to reflect upon their experiences – expect a lively start to the conference! On Thursday 8th, we have plenaries on the ways in which age, from both ends of the spectrum, is framed in media discourse, while the closing plenary on Friday 9th will address new technologies and media activism in the twenty-first century.
The conference website http://meccsa2015.co.uk/ contains further information about practicalities, including campus location, registration, and accommodation suggestions.
If you have any questions, the conference team can be contacted via email at: [log in to unmask]
We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Northumbria at Newcastle for MeCCSA Conference 2015.
Best wishes,
The MeCCSA 2015 organising team
