Hi all,
I would just like to say that this is an excellent opportunity and a great team to work with. I did this internship in 2013 and it truly sparked my interest in the field and launched my career. A year and a bit on, I now have a stable science press job at a top university.
I would strongly recommend this opportunity to anyone who would like to build a career in the field. I cannot thank Jonathan and the team enough for what this internship did for me. It's never easy starting out, but the internship at Oxford gave me the opportunity to prove myself and carve out a career.
The position comes with real responsibility and a real wage, something fairly rare in internships! The selection process is meritocratic and based on demonstrable ability and not box-ticking (I got a 2:2), so don't be put off applying if you feel you could do the job but don't necessarily look perfect 'on paper'.
If you're looking to start a career in science communication and have the skills to do the job, you'd be mad not to apply!
If anyone is looking for an informal chat about what it was like to do the internship, please feel free to drop me a line.
All the best,
Harry
