Dear colleagues,
We would like to inform you about a change in the schedule for the coming weeks’ SWANA seminar series. The seminars, which were originally planned for the 25th of November and the 2nd of December, have both been postponed one week.
The new schedule for upcoming presentations is:
2nd of Dec. at 5 pm. Carl Rommel. SOAS. ”The ruins that remained: Exploring football's (in)ability to foster emotional normality in the midst of Egypt's revolutionary process.”(Please note that this seminar will start at 5 pm, i.e. 30 min earlier than normal. This is due to another event at LSE later the same evening)
9th of Dec. at 5.30 pm. Karin Ahlberg. SOAS. ”The revolution won’t be marketed: battles of images in the passing of the Egyptian revolution”
The seminar runs weekly on Tuesdays in The Seligman Library, 6th Floor, Old Building, London School of Economics (LSE).
The SWANA seminars are a series of seminars for anthropologists with a research interest in Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) across institutions in London and beyond. The aim of the series is to create a forum for anthropologists working on issues related to SWANA to present and discuss work in progress. We also want to use the seminar as a platform, where events, talks, calls for papers and other relevant information can be shared.
The format of the seminar is for doctoral students, early career researchers, and SWANA scholars to present their work-in-progress to other anthropologists with similar regional expertise, in a critical, yet unintimidating and supportive, small-scale milieu.
The seminars are open to the public and we encourage anyone with an interest in South West Asia and North Africa and/or anthropology to attend.
