The following extract is taken from the October 2014 issue of THE METHODIST REVIEW NEWSLETTER and may be of interest to some RAG members:

DUKE DIVINITY ARCHIVE

The purpose of this repository is to serve the common good by organizing and making accessible primary and secondary resources in the field of religion. This archive extends beyond library and educational institutions to include service and non-profit organizations related to/sponsored by religious bodies and denominations. Divinity Archive is hosted at the Duke Divinity School Library. The Divinity School at Duke University is one of the thirteen theological schools of the United Methodist Church. Its own library holdings are particularly strong in the areas of Christianity in general and the Methodist and Wesleyan traditions in particular. The Divinity Archive can be accessed at divinityarchive.com.

These resource “communities” are currently included:
• American Methodism Digital Collection [3900]
• Center for Studies in the Wesleyan Tradition [187]
• Duke Divinity School History and Publication Archives [1001]
• Duke Divinity School Library Archives [67]
• O’Brien Library Digital Archive [5]
• The Charles Wesley Society [87]
• The World Methodist Museum [6]

ONLINE RESEARCH PORTAL FOR WESLEYAN, HOLINESS, AND PENTECOSTAL TRADITIONS

Asbury Theological Seminary’s Center for Wesleyan, Holiness, and Pentecostal Traditions has created a new online portal for research in these traditions. The special collection for the center is housed online and in the Archive Department of the B. L. Fisher Library and contains a rich compilation of historical and scholarly resources in these three areas. The current strength of the portal is in holiness materials although the Center is quickly building up its Wesleyan resources and recently made an important acquisition in Pentecostal
studies. This new venture demonstrates Asbury Theological Seminary’s ongoing commitment to promoting excellence in Wesleyan research and scholarship by providing access to a wealth of exceptional and rare resources which encompass the broad sphere of Wesleyan scholarship. The link for the portal is: guides.asburyseminary.edu/whpsc.

METHODIST IMAGE COLLECTION

The staff of the Methodist Library at Drew University is delighted to announce the completion of a project with Flickr.com. The resource includes 5,099 digitized images of persons affiliated with the global Methodist tradition and includes pictures of bishops, ministers, missionaries, and theologians. This image collection, which is searchable, is available online at: www.flickr.com/photos/drewulibrary/sets/72157632280261950/with/8293443823. WESLEY FIGURES SEE THE LIGHT!

The Visual Collections Department of the John Rylands Library in Manchester have recently rehoused some of the Wesley ceramics and sculpture that the Library holds. These figures have been moved from cupboards behind the scenes into storage in the Crawford Room and are arousing quite a lot of curiosity with members of the public. For a brief article and photographs of some of these objects, see: rylandscollections.wordpress.
